What you need to know before your child starts at Cipriani Elementary School

The Belmont Redwood Shores School District and Cipriani Elementary School welcomes you to our community. We hope to make the enrollment process as easy as possible for both students and parents.  

• NEW KINDERGARTEN AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR CALIFORNIA.
  

2011-2012 will be a transition year for the new law that will ultimately result in September 1st being the cut-off date your child must be five years old by to enroll in Kindergarten in California. However,  for the current 2011-2012 school year, the old date is still in effect; your child must be five years old by December 5th, 2011. 

The subsequent years' cut-off dates are as follows:

• For 2012-2013 school year, your child must be five by November 1st, 2012. 
• For 2013-2014 school year, your child must be five by October 1st, 2013.
• For 2014-2015 school year, your child must be five by September 1st, 2014.

FOR 2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR:
In June 2011, the school board enacted a "no boundaries" enrollment system.   Instead of enrollment being based on pre-drawn attendance borders, it will be based on the walking proximity of your residence to the nearest school  which would determine the school you attend.  However, please know there is no guarantee that your child will be enrolled at your "home" school, but they are guaranteed to be enrolled at a school in our district.

There have already been 2 visitation dates (Thursday, Jan. 12 and Tuesday, Jan. 24.) and no more are planned.  

NOTE: For 2012-13, 2013-14, and 2014-15 Cipriani School enrollment is capped in all grades, except Kindergarten. There will be only 2 Kinder classes offered, and Kinder siblings of current students have priority, so open enrollment spaces are limited.

2011-2012 Current Year Only Enrollment Forms:

•For 11-12, Cipriani school enrollment is capped in all grades, except for a few openings in Kindergarten.  However, if your residence is in our attendance borders, for the 11-12 school year,  you will still have to register at Cipriani, but your placement will be decided by the District Office.

  NOTE: The Oral Health Assessment is not needed for registration, but will be needed for student records in the 2011-2012 school year.  Please download a copy and take it to your child's next dental appointment for completion, then return to the school office when convenient.
  
• For those with other living arrangement (not home owners, or renters), download this Notarized Verification Form.  This will be needed before registration will be accepted.  Please read carefully, and provide all documents as stated on the registration checklist.

Enrollment Procedures:

Note that only those who have provided ALL necessary information as listed in the checklist will be fully enrolled.   To hasten the process, please bring original documents and provide one copy of each, if possible. We will review the original, return it to you, and keep the copy.
